I'm thinking a wizard specialized in Illusion, Conjuration, or Necromancy. He is shown to be able to conjure a giant moth, interrogate the dead, and animate his nightmares into lightning-shaped leech creatures that live in a collar around his neck. In the books (so far), Carrion is the Prince of Midnight, a powerful magician, and a romantic whose lips were sewn together for saying the word "love." Oh, and also a creepy dude.
